The Belgrave Hotel | Halloween Party - November 1st

Join us for a wicked evening, as there is always something haunting in the light of the moon.

It was believed that, during Halloween, the world of the gods became visible to humans, resulting in supernatural mischief. Some people offered treats and food to the gods, while other wore disguises – so that wandering spirits might mistake them for one of their own.

Brewing concoctions: Malcura, Better Than Sex and Dead Steve.

MALCURA are an exhilarating Flamenco-Fusion band from Melbourne, Australia. Malcura have captivated the public with their distinctive sound, which combines the sonic textures of the Spanish guitar with Latin rhythms and a Rock’n’Roll mentality. Their signature “Heavy Flamenco” style incorporates intricate arrangements and influences from a range of styles, from Gypsy Jazz, to Swing, to Surf Rock and even Metal!

Consisting of Josh Voce and Jenna Campbell on Nylon-string Guitars, and backed by the powerhouse rhythm section of Simon Wood on Drums and Percussion and Colin Andrews on Bass, Malcura creates music for the soul; it’s a feeling as much as it is a sound.

Renowned for their head-turning musicianship, audience participation and keeping dancefloors moving at festivals across Australia, Malcura are a workhorse of a live band. Whether they’re on-stage at a festival, starting dancefloors at the pub, tucked in-between two trailers at a market or serenading guests at a wedding, Malcura have a tenacious stage presence and continue to delight audiences (or so they tell us). A live act not to be missed!

BETTER THAN SEX will have you gyrating and grooving like nothing else. It’s funk for cynics, jazz for nihilists, Cowboy Circus Cabaret Chaos… an undefinable sound that hits a spot you didn’t even know was there.

A golden voice and mighty roar, bass lines that walk the Nullarbor, guitar riffs which defy the laws of arthritis, drums executed with the precision of a US bullet going through the head of a freedom fighter, and a saxophone so smooth it has multiple undisclosed court cases. Better Than Sex: the soundtrack to the privatisation of your nervous system. The end of the world has never felt so good!

DEAD STEVE aka Deep Steve were born in a blackout on a stormy Halloween night, Deep Steve is a lonesome surfer, a mystic vampire, a psychedelic, garage rockin’, country and eastern crooner singing songs of lost loves, bad dreams and short coffins.

“Last night you were unhinged. You were like some desperate, howling demon. You frightened me. Do it again.” — Morticia, “The Addams Family”
